Safety. Dignity. Justice. A Path Forward.

Our name and our tagline say what we stand for. Each word shapes how we work.

  • Safety

Emotional and physical safety come first, in every program and every conversation.

  • Dignity

People are treated with respect, including their autonomy and their right to be heard.

  • Justice

Access to justice, and systems that are fair, transparent, trauma informed and accountable.

  • A Path Forward

Moving from crisis toward safety, healing, independence, and long term well being.

Our Mission

Our mission

National Justice & Care Alliance exists to promote safety, dignity, justice, and meaningful access to support for individuals and families affected by violence, abuse, stalking, harassment, elder abuse, abuse or exploitation of people with disabilities, trauma, and complex institutional systems.

We recognize that harm can occur in homes, relationships, workplaces, caregiving environments, residential settings, communities, and institutions. We also recognize that navigating legal, social service, healthcare, employment, educational, protective, or other systems can sometimes deepen an individual’s trauma. Older adults and people with disabilities may face additional barriers to safety, independence, communication, reporting abuse, accessing services, and being heard.

Through trauma informed navigation, advocacy, education, supportive services, community partnerships, and access to resources, NJCA works to reduce barriers, strengthen individual and family stability, and help people move from crisis toward safety, healing, independence, and long term well being.

Our Vision

We envision communities where individuals and families, including older adults and people with disabilities, experiencing violence, abuse, exploitation, trauma, or crisis can find safety and meaningful support without being turned away simply because their circumstances are complicated.

Our long term vision is to create an integrated network of support that includes safe and sheltered housing, family navigation, mental health services, legal resource connections, employment support, transportation assistance, peer support, education, research, advocacy, and other resources that help people rebuild stable and independent lives.

Our goal is not simply to help people survive a crisis. It is to help create the conditions in which individuals, children, and families can heal, rebuild, and thrive.

Why we exist

From individual support to systemic change.

NJCA was founded on the belief that we can do both.

We can stand beside an individual who needs help today while working to improve the systems that will serve families tomorrow.

Through support, research, advocacy, education, community partnerships, and trauma informed services, we are working toward a future where people are safer, systems are more responsive, and no one has to navigate trauma alone.
